The airbrush is an interesting and difficult to handle painting instrument, which exists about a hundred years. Among highbrow artscene people it is often sceptically received, to express it
mildly, the funny thing is that often the same people regard the application of colour with holed buckets or streetbrushes as a must to create great art.
Fact is, that an airbrush renders soft changes in tonality and intensity in the most perfect and efficient way, only classical oil can produce similar results, using soft brushes for blending, but
especially for larger areas this is less efficient. So the airbrush is a very intelligent solution for some problems and nonsense for others. In fact, usually there is no such thing as a pure
airbrush painting. Brushes, pencils, erasers etc. are constantly in use, varying with the effect you want to reach.
